WINNIPEG – Turns out Winnipeg is pretty high on Louis C.K.’s list of memories, although that might not be a good thing.

The successful comedian appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night, ahead of the launch Thursday of the fifth season of his half-hour comedy Louie.

He and Fallon fell into a conversation about the good ol’ bad ol’ days of being on the road, and Louis C.K. let this bit of information drop:

“I remember a few things exactly. I remember my daughter being born, I remember my dad spanking me, and I remember working at Rumor’s Comedy Club in Winnipeg,” he told Fallon. “Those are the three things I remember really vividly. The two worst and best things that happened in my whole life.”

While the comedian didn’t specify where his Winnipeg experience fit – perhaps it was both best and worst, when taken in context of the earlier conversation – his previous comments about Manitoba’s capital haven’t been noted for their favourable flavour.

“Living in Winnipeg for two weeks in the dead of winter” was among the worst things in his earlier career, he told Rolling Stone magazine a couple of years ago.

The clip in which Louis C.K. mentioned Winnipeg was briefly posted on YouTube by the Tonight Show but removed on Wednesday morning.
