SASKATOON – An alert building manager was able to thwart an attempted robbery at a downtown Saskatoon condo building Monday afternoon. Police say the building manager was working in her office just before 2:30 p.m. in the 100-block of 23rd Street East when she noticed a man at the front door.

He was prying at the security entrance and was successful in gaining entry. He then headed to the parking level of the complex.

The 62-year-old building manager confronted the man in the parkade and he fled on foot.

Police located the suspect a few minutes later in the area of 22nd Street and 1st Avenue. He was arrested without incident and police say he had a number of break-in tools in his possession.

The 25-year-old Saskatoon man is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning. He is facing charges of break and enter, possession of break-in tools and breach of probation. His name has not been released.
