WATCH: Runaway truck driver crashes through Fort Worth storefront, killing one

A young Texas family of three is mourning the loss of their mother, 24-year-old Sylvia Zazueta, after she was struck by a truck that crashed into a gas station storefront Tuesday.

Fort Worth police say 19-year-old Isaac Adams was fleeing from the site of a road incident, traveling at speeds of up to 160 kilometres per hour.

That’s when security cameras at the Star Food Mart captured Adams’ truck crashing through their storefront and striking customers inside the store.

Zazueta was just outside the shop when Adams lost control of the truck. Cameras did not capture the moment she was struck.

The pickup crashed at such a high impact that firefighters had to use their truck to pull the vehicle from the building in order to free a trapped Zazueta. She later died in hospital.

According to reports, the other driver involved in the original road incident noticed that Adams and his passenger were acting strangely.

“At the time it seemed like they were on something, you know?” Bobby Washington told NBC. “It seemed they weren’t in their right mind.”

Police believe Adams was on a narcotic at the time of the incident and have charged him with intoxication manslaughter.

ABC affiliate News 8 spoke to Adams at the scene of the accident. They say at the end of their interview, he flashed a peace sign and told viewers to follow him on Instagram.

“All I’ve got to say is he’s a disgusting human being,” store owner Sonny Tanwar told NBC.
