WINNIPEG – A scary wake-up call for a family living in the North End this morning, as a fire ripped through the top floor of a house.
Fire crews were called to the scene on 377 Selkirk Avenue just before 5 a.m.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the top floor of the two story house.
Police say the family of four was living in the basement of the house and was able to escape unharmed.
There is no word on what caused the fire.
