WATCH: Many companies are increasingly finding ways to get in on the fun of April Fool’s Day. Mike Armstrong reports.

TORONTO – If there were ever a day to think twice before tweeting that crazy article you just read, it’s April Fool’s Day – one of the most loved and hated days on the Internet.

Each year, tech companies, media organizations and PR companies take to the web to share silly pranks, tall tales and try to out-do each other in viral fandom.

And while many of them are worthy of a good face-palm, every year someone comes up with a prank that is truly LOL worthy. Here is a look at some of the best – and worst – April Fool’s pranks on the Internet so far this year:

Selfie Shoes

With the selfie stick being banned at concert venues and museums around the world, it was only a matter of time before someone came up with an alternative. Enter the selfie shoe – designed by shoe company Miz Mooz.

“Just insert your phone into the port at the front of either your right or left shoe, raise it to the perfect angle and click the internal button with a tap of your toe to take the photo,” according to an ad for the product.

However, it appears there is a real waiting list for the selfie shoe.

West Jet’s #SmartSeats

West Jet understands that the last thing you want to do while travelling is use your legs – now, with #SmartSeats, your seat in the lounge is your seat on the airplane.

“Not only will you board in comfort and style – but seven times faster than you normally would,” read the advertisement. “Smart Seats are designed to board even if you’re reclined; even if you’re asleep.”

oneToilet – A revolutionary bathroom awareness system

Anyone who works in a busy office knows the feeling of panic when the one shared bathroom is occupied after you’ve consumed your third cup of coffee. Cloud computing firm Nirix has developed a “revolutionary bathroom awareness system” to solve all of your bathroom woes.

Simply open the oneToilet web interface in your browser and watch to see if the bathroom is occupied from the comfort of your desk.

Honda HR-V selfie edition

What do millennials’ love more – selfies or making political statements with hybrid SUVs? Since it’s an impossible question to answer, Honda has decided to combine both of those things in their all new HR-V SUV.

“With 10 cameras across the interior and exterior, the HR-V Selfie Edition allows drivers to snap self-portraits while the car is in park,” Honda said.

Google’s Pac-Man adventure

Kiss your productivity goodbye – Google has rolled out a new Google Maps feature that allows you to play Pac-Man on almost any street in the world.

So, how do you play? Simply go to Google Maps and find an area with lots of roads – like downtown Toronto or Vancouver – and look for the Pac-Man symbol in the bottom left corner of your screen.

Tinder for Uber

“Make a Tinder match with an Uber driver and he’ll split the fare with you,” read the website. Need we say more?

YouTube wants everyone to listen to Darude ‘Sandstorm’

YouTube is throwing its weight behind arguably one of the best song of all time – “Sandstorm” by Darude.

The video site has added an “add music” button (located in the bottom right of the video player)  that allows you to add the song to any video you are watching. Plus, anything you search for will come up with the result, “Did you mean: Darude – Sandstorm by Darude.”

Samsung Galaxy S6 ‘Gourmet Mode’

Creating the perfect food Instagram photo is a daunting task – you must ensure there is perfect lighting, precise alignment of your cutlery and you must do this all while your stomach is growling. Much to the delight of foodies everywhere, Samsung has added a “gourmet mode” button to the camera on its new Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones.

Groupon offers cat cab service

After all of the controversy surrounding Uber, Groupon has launched Grøüber – an app that lets you order a car driven by a friendly feline.

Grøüber cars use GPS-guided red lasers to guide the cat driver along their routes. And a new business model means the fare decreases as demand surges.

“Our drivers are spayed, neutered and have no reason to curl up in your lap and make it awkward. Trust us, these cats are cool,” read the website.

Microsoft launches MS-DOS smartphone

In 1981, Microsoft revolutionized personal computing with MS-DOS — and now the software giant is re-launching the operating system on its smartphones.
“We realized we had to go back to the beginning to when we first reinvented productivity. Black and white text has never looked so good,” according to Microsoft’s promotional video.

Fiat launches scented car collection

Fiat announced it’s partnered with Jelly Belly to produce a line of scented paint for its Fiat 500 cars. The company has been ensuring its Twitter users there is no non-“scents” about the announcement.

South St. Burger to offer “burger docks”

Imagine being able to eat a burger, charge your phone and post an Instagram all at the same time? Enter the burger dock.

“In our fast-paced, work-driven culture where every second counts, who can dedicate the time to holding a burger,” reads a press release from South St. Burgers. “The Burger Dock holds your burger and drink conveniently in mouth’s reach to free up your hands so you can text, type, and dial while eating.”
