KELOWNA — The Province of B.C. appears to be ready to take an aggressive approach to the possible invasion by quagga and zebra mussels in our fresh water lakes, rivers and streams.
Environment Minister Mary Polak, Forests and Lands Minister Steve Thomson and Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick will be making an announcements about participation in an invasive species defence program today.
A media conference is set for 9:30 at the Hotel Eldorado in Kelowna.
Officials are concerned the mussels could be introduced into local lakes by boaters from the U-S, causing major damage to water systems and tourism.
