More medals for Kodiak Basketball

Oh how sweet it is for Kodiak Basketball!

After hard-fought national tournaments, both the Men’s and Women’s teams brought home medals.  The women claimed a Silver, the men a Bronze.  Today, the teams were given the chance to celebrate with their follow students after exhausting, but rewarding seasons.

“We had a tough opening game at nationals where we had a chance to win, but we just couldn’t close out that one,” said men’s coach Ryan Heggie.  “But to regroup and win three games in two days is quite a big accomplishment for the program.”

The women made it all the way to the finals, dropping a close game to the two-time defending national champions from Montmorency College in Laval, Quebec.

“It was such a great experience and I’m sure it’s something the girls and I will never forget for the rest of our lives,” said women’s Coach Brad Karren.  “It’s just so hard to get there. And to do what we did and get so close is really a wonderful experience.”
