LUMBY – RCMP say a 29-year-old man arrested for impaired driving had two children in the vehicle.

The arrest was tipped off by some unusual driving last Tuesday.

RCMP officers saw a minivan run a stop sign before driving quickly down Shuswap Ave. It then stopped in front of the Lumby RCMP detachment.

“In a crazy turn of events, the driver got out of the vehicle and began walking down the middle of Shuswap Ave. southbound. He then got back in the van and took off again,” says RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk in a news release.

Police say all three adults in the vehicle were intoxicated.

One man was arrested and police contacted the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

“In a case like this the children in the vehicle could certainly have been put at risk,” says Molendyk.
