Saskatoon Breakfast Buzz – March 24

Saskatoon city council will not help homeowners dealing with a slumping riverbank on 11th Street. Brent McGillivray / Global News

Saskatoon city council has voted not to contribute any city money to fix the slope failure in the Nutana neighbourhood.

The slumping on 11th Street has been ongoing for two years, and a report by Golder Associates has pegged the bill to fix the issue as high as $20 million. Residents in the area claim that storm water and soil running off the lane has contributed to the failure, and are upset by the city’s decision.

Council did pass a motion to make sure a city mediation process would be available for homeowners to work amongst themselves on a solution.
