EDMONTON — It’s the first full day of spring, but old man winter isn’t done with Alberta just yet.

Environment Canada issued snowfall warnings Saturday for several areas of central Alberta, stretching as fast west as Jasper and as far east as Lloydminster. As of 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Edmonton was not under any warnings.

A band of snow is expected to develop over the Jasper region Saturday evening and head east toward the Saskatchewan border.

About 10 centimetres of snow is expected in most regions by Sunday morning, but Environment Canada says more could fall in some areas.

Officials are urging motorists to drive to the conditions. Earlier Saturday, RCMP issued warnings about icy conditions on highways west and south of Edmonton.
