2 German transport systems order Bombardier trains worth US$203 million

MONTREAL — The rail equipment division of Bombardier Inc. has received contracts worth a total of US$203 million from transportation authorities in two German cities.

The Dusseldorf contract is for 42 vehicles, worth about US$135 million, with an option for 16 additional vehicles.

The Cologne contract is for 20 rail vehicles valued at US$68 million.

The Flexity light rail vehicles will be manufactured in Germany for delivery between 2017 and 2021.

Flexity light rail vehicles are already in service in Cologne and Frankfurt in Germany, Manchester in England, and in Bursa, Turkey.
