TORONTO – A person who was being assessed at Toronto’s Sunnybrook Hospital after showing Ebola-like symptoms has tested negative for the virus.
“Results from the Public Health Ontario Laboratory show that a patient being treated at Sunnybrook, who recently traveled to West Africa, does not have Ebola Virus Disease,” read a statement from hospital officials.
Sunnybrook staff placed the person into the negative pressure room while they determine the diagnosis, to keep anyone else from being infected.
Sunnybrook Hospital was designated one of the province’s Ebola referral hospitals, and would receive any patient suspected of having the virus.
No one in Ontario has been diagnosed with Ebola since the outbreak began in West Africa.
