12 people arrested in drug investigation at Surrey trailer park

WATCH: RCMP officers have busted a drug distribution network that’s been operating in the Fraser Valley. Elaine Yong has the details.

VANCOUVER – Twelve people were arrested on Wednesday morning after RCMP executed a search warrant at a Newton-area trailer park.

This was part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Surrey RCMP’s Drug Section along with the Surrey RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed four search warrants on four homes in the 8200-block of King George Boulevard. Mounties say this location has also been the site of ongoing drug trafficking involving methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and marijuana.

All the homes also have a Do Not Occupy order placed on them under city bylaws.

Police say all 12 people are known to them and they will be recommending property-related charges and drug trafficking charges.

“Law-abiding residents in our community are fed up with some of these actions of those who are involved in the local drug trade,” says Surrey RCMP Sgt. Dale Car. ”These arrests will have a significant disruption on the local drug trade in the Newton area and we will continue to work to sustain this disruption and reduce the prevalence of drug related crime in our communities.”

These arrests are part of the Surrey RCMP’s ongoing High Risk Location (HRL) initiative, which started last year.
