Police lay child luring charges against 50-year-old Calgary man

CALGARY – Police have charged a 50-year-old man with child luring after a Calgary mother found sexual text messages on her 10-year-old boy’s cell phone.

She contacted police after discovering the messages, which contained child pornography, in January.

Police say the phone number associated with the text messages was also connected to one used on a series of sexual notes found in Queen’s Park Cemetery in 2014.

“The notes that were found throughout the cemetery on fences, trees, gates were describing sexual acts and acts of bondage with a cell number for people to contact,” explained S/Sgt. Rob Rutledge.

In addition, investigators believe the same suspect may be behind a sexual assault that took place in Queens Park Cemetery in July of 2014.

“A lady was paying respects to a loved one and was approach from behind by a naked man who forced her to the ground and demanded that she take off her clothes. She was able to fight back and scream and yell, and force the offender to run away,” explained S/Sgt. Rob Rutledge.
