Thunderbirds defeat Huskies to take CIS bronze

QUEBEC CITY, Que. – Kris Young had 25 points as the UBC Thunderbirds defeated the Saskatchewan Huskies 73-61 to capture the bronze medal at the CIS women’s basketball championships. It marked the UBC program’s ninth CIS medal in its history after six gold and two silver.

Harleen Sidhu added 16 points for the Thunderbirds while Adrienne Parkin had 14 points.

Laura Dally scored 21 points for Saskatchewan, which also finished fourth in last year’s tournament. Kelsey Trulsrud added 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Top-seeded Windsor faces No. 3 McGill in the final.
