Man killed on Ring Road was a father, a husband, a brother

REGINA – Saeed Ahmad Warraich, 48, was driving along the Ring Road around 4:00 p.m. Friday when another vehicle crossed the ditch and hit his car head-on, killing him instantly.

He had just come from the Madni Mosque on Pasqua Street, where he often went to pray.

His brother-in-law, Faisal Nasrullah, said he has fond memories of Saeed, calling him “a wonderful human being, a very lively person, down to earth, very hard working. He was very progressive by nature and mind and very kind to everyone around him.”

Saeed moved to Canada from Pakistan just four years ago with his wife, in the hope that western medicine could help the couple conceive a baby.

Just a year later, that dream came true. The couple had twin boys, who are now almost three-years-old.

Saeed worked at Winners, and his wife Sigbha Saeed said he helped other newcomers get jobs. The family was in the process of getting their Canadian citizenship.

Nasrullah is concerned about safety on the highway. He believes there should be a physical barrier dividing opposing traffic on the Ring Road.

“This is not going to be the last incident, and I’m sure it’s not the first on this highway. The safety levels need to be improved. We don’t have to lose lives to find out how important that is,” Nasrullah said.

Saeed’s wife, Sighba told Global News she has one message for drivers: “Don’t play with your own life, or that of other drivers. You never know how many people are affected by your decisions.”

Saeed was the only brother to seven sisters, who still live overseas.
