Chinese border police reveal all-female SWAT team

Chinese border police on Wednesday set up the first female SWAT team in a training base in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The team, previously a special unit of Xinjiang’s border police, is rebranded as “Snow Eagle” that has 34 members.

Lyu Siqi has been serving in the border police for four years and is particularly famous for her marksmanship among the team members.

“To pull out the gun, I only need 0.3 seconds and then make the first shot in another 0.3 seconds. Within three seconds, I am able to shoot down all the five steel board targets,” she said, when asked what’s her fastest shot.

Lyu said the shooting skill is the result of continuous training with at least six hours every day all through the year, and she has already fired over 10,000 shots during the three years of training.

“When you have really good shooting scores, sometimes full scores, you will be so thrilled and will literally hold the target for a whole day. I will put it on my bed and will smile whenever I see it,” said Mi Xue, member of the team.

Young and vigorous, the team will conduct even more training and be tasked with responding to any emergency situations in times of possible future terror attacks.
