OTTAWA – A three-year-old girl was found on an Ottawa street early Thursday after she wandered outside into the cold wearing only pyjamas and winter boots.

Police say the child was reported missing from her home on Blake Boulevard between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

It’s not clear exactly how long she was outside but temperatures were around -9 C at the time.

The little girl was discovered walking down the street on her own by a neighbour who called police.

She was treated by paramedics for mild hypothermia and then sent to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario as a precautionary measure.

No charges have been laid.

“The person that found the toddler said her hands were cold,” said Const. Marc Soucy. “We were lucky that the weather was a little milder than it has been in the past few weeks.”
