Saskatoon – Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the Prince Albert, North Battleford, Meadow Lake, Buffalo Narrows and La Ronge regions.
An area of freezing rain has moved into that area and is expected to continue heading east across the province tonight.
The freezing rain is expected to clip the City of Saskatoon through the evening hours.
Ice accretion amounts are expected to be minimal but enough to create slick road conditions into Friday morning as temperatures across the region will fall a few degrees below freezing tonight.
Tomorrow temperatures across the province are expected to be well above freezing with a warm surge of air pushing in, allowing ice to melt.
This weekend is expected to be the warmest so far this year with the mercury expected to push into double digits in many parts of central Saskatchewan.
Environment Canada recommends motorists be prepared to adjust driving with changing road conditions.
Check in with Saskatchewan Highway Hotline before heading out.
