BROOKS, Alta. – An eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being hit by a truck in the city of Brooks.
RCMP say the young girl was crossing the road while on her way to school when she was struck.

It happened around 8:20 a.m. on Thursday at a marked crosswalk at Sutherland Drive and 8th Avenue East.
Paramedics rushed the child to hospital in serious condition. Her injuries are considered life-threatening.
Investigators say the driver stopped immediately and is cooperating with police.
They don’t consider alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
