Loaded handgun seized from Glenbrook home in March drug bust

CALGARY – Police have seized a loaded handgun and several types of drugs in a recent crackdown on Calgary’s street-level drug sales.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) confiscated the items on March 6th.

They say the majority of the drugs and Glock handgun were seized from a home in the community of Glenbrook, which was located less than a block away from a school.

The handgun was loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and had its serial number removed.

Homes in the communities of Eau Claire and Copperfield were also searched.

In total, police seized an estimated $26,000 worth of drugs including:

  • 55 grams of cocaine
  • 51 grams of heroin
  • 19 grams of marihuana

Two people with ties to B.C.’s Lower Mainland were arrested following three search warrants.

  • 23-year-old Sheldon Seymour of Surrey has been charged with possession of a restricted weapon, careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, defacing a serial number on a firearm, possession of proceeds of crime, drug possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking (x 2).
  • 33-year-old Tyler Romanisson of Surrey has been charged with possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order, possession of a restricted weapon, carless use of a firearm, defacing a serial number on a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, drug possession (x 2) and possession for the purpose of trafficking (x 2).

Warrants are being sought for two additional suspects.
