Three teens armed with machete face charges in street robberies

REGINA – Three Regina teenagers are facing charges after two street robberies in the city over the weekend.

The first robbery occurred March 7 around 10 PM, on the 1500 block of Halifax Street where a 25-year-old woman was confronted by three suspects. One of them was carrying a baseball bat, and the victim’s purse was stolen.

The next day, March 8 at around 5:45 pm, an 18-year-old woman was walking on the 1200 block of Victoria Avenue and was approached by three males. One of them threatened her with a machete and the suspects stole her purse then fled on foot.

While police were responding to that robbery, another police cruiser spotted two males running in the 200 block of Toronto Street. They matched the description of the suspects, and police also located the third suspect in the house on that block. Police were able to recover items from the March 7 victim in the house.

The three youths cannot be named due to their age but all three are facing Armed Robbery charges and made their first court appearance on Monday morning.
