The Crown is asking for a 10-year prison sentence for a Langley man who pleaded guilty to attacking his family.
Andre Harvey Richard pleaded guilty in December to aggravated assault, arson and break and enter.
He was originally charged with attempted murder after the Langley home, where his estranged wife and two children were sleeping went up in flames last year.
They lost everything in the fire.
The court also heard details of how Richard attacked his family with weapons and his fists. Richard’s former wife had a restraining order against him at the time.
The 44-year-old was arrested in Fernie after a province-wide manhunt.
He was known to police for previous domestic violence.
The defence is suggesting a five or six year sentence.
