A frantic third-period comeback and a number of amazing overtime saves by Eddie Lack didn’t lead to two points.

Sam Gagner scored the only goal in the shootout as the Arizona Coyotes hung on for a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks Thursday night.

Vancouver, which has now lost three of its last four games, trailed 2-0 with less than ten minutes to go. Chris Higgins got the Canucks on the board with eight minutes to go, scoring his eighth of the season.

Vancouver had several turnovers in overtime, forcing Lack to make several saves on breakaways. However, Nick Bonino, Radim Vrbata and Chris Higgins were all unable to beat Mike Smith in the shootout.

The loss moves Vancouver to 36-24-4 on the season, second in the Pacific Division. Arizona is 21-37-8, sixth in the division.
