Halifax police help slippery seal back into the water

HALIFAX – You can add “seal whisperer” to the job description of Halifax police officers.

Just after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, two officers were flagged down near Bishop’s Landing to help a woman who had found a young harbour seal under her car.

The officers located the seal as it made its way down Lower Water Street.

“Concerned for its safety, the officers used some gentle persuasion and reassurance, wrapped the whiskered sushi lover in a blanket, and carefully assisted it back to its harbour home,” states the release from Halifax Regional Police.

There’s no word on why or how the slippery seal made its way into the downtown core.
