TORONTO – Hydro crews are continuing to restore power to a several hundred customers in the Toronto area after wintry weather caused disruptions.
Toronto Hydro says about 225 customers remain without power as of early Thursday.
The utility says the cause of the power outages was traced to Hydro One transmission issues, pole fires and system issues due to the weather Tuesday.
It says damage from these types of equipment failures is complex and as a result, some customers in hardest hit areas may be without power until Thursday.
Toronto Hydro said about 87,000 customers were initially left without power after the region received snow which turned to freezing drizzle and light freezing rain.
Hydro One, Powerstream, Veridian and other power companies also reported numerous outages, which have since been repaired.
