TORONTO – A 14-year-old girl was rescued from a human trafficking ring after security guards investigated a noise complaint at a Marriott hotel in downtown Toronto.
The teen girl was found in a hotel room near Bay Street and Dundas Street West by security guards at the hotel. Police say the girl was invited to the hotel by the three suspects and then forced into the sex trade over the course of the week.
She was confined to the room and police allege the suspects took her personal belongings, including her phone and disabled the hotel room phone.
The suspects then placed ads for sexual services on the Internet and made arrangements with people.
Toronto Police arrested three people the same night the girl was found and they all now face 10 charges related to human trafficking and forcible confinement. Sage Finestone, 21, Nicholas Faria, 19, and Natasha Robataille, 18, have all been arrested and charged.
They appeared in court on Saturday.
Police say the teen girl is now safe at home but they believe there may be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
