WATCH: In a dramatic operation this morning, crews were able to reach two rock climbers trapped in a remote area near Grouse Mountain. Grace Ke reports.
UPDATE: Both climbers have now been rescued from Crown Mountain.
Members of North Shore Rescue are back on the Crown Mountain this morning searching for two missing rock climbers.
Rescuers have established voice contact with them and are waiting for first light to send a helicopter out.
It comes after two other rescues on Crown Mountain this weekend.
The missing climbers are two men in their twenties from Vancouver.
They are not injured, but had to hunker down on the mountain for the night.
Mike Danks with North Shore Rescue says they got a call around 8:30 last night for overdue climbers, who were allegedly attempting a route on the north-east side of the mountain.
“They let their significant others know if they were not out by 8 o’clock to call rescue for help, that they were in trouble,” says Danks. “We talked to some informants that were on the trail, who saw them and they were off route. So we were able to get a point last scene.”
Eighteen search and rescue personnel are involved in the operation.
Danks says the area is dangerous and can’t be accessed at night.
“There is still lots of snow up there. This is very steep, technical terrain, with lots of overhead hazards. Not a good place to be stuck for the night.”
