Kelowna couple looking for missing Bengal cat

KELOWNA – A Kelowna couple is hoping you can help reunite them with their missing pet. Their bengal cat disappeared last Saturday from their East Kelowna property.

“I’d give one of my arms to get him back,” says Doug Illman of his seven-year-old Bengal cat Baheera.

He has a very distinct look and Illman believes that may have prompted someone to steal him from their property.

“Bagheera is worth a lot of money. Bengals are a very popular cat they are expensive cause of their exotic looks,” he said.

The couple, who owned the former CrocTalk conservation facility, say the cat never wanders far from home.

“It has never happened before. Bagheera always comes when he is called, always,” says Illman.

Adding to the mysterious disappearance, the evening Bagheera went missing Illman says he heard a loud muffler in his driveway.

“It was unusual pulling into my parking lot, I thought, because we are closed…I looked but by the time I got to the deck, the vehicle jetted itself up and went flying down road, “ says Illman.

There have been several possible sightings of Bagheera, mostly in the Springfield, Hollywood area of Kelowna. The couple is appealing to the public to keep their eyes peeled and be ready to confine Bagheera if possible. Illman says he’s friendly and approachable.

If you do spot him, you’re asked to contact the SPCA or the owners directly. Doug Illman can be reached at 250-717-6060 while Brenda Bruce can be contacted at 250-317-1103.
