Manitobans preparing for Canadian Power Toboggan Championships

BEAUSEJOUR – Hundreds of snowmobile racers from across North America will come to Beausejour, Manitoba next week for the 53rd annual Canadian Power Toboggan Championships; the oldest organized snowmobile race in the world.

“When people think of Canada, they think of cold and winter and snowmobiling, it’s like we were born to do this,” said Travis MacDonald, a snowmobile racer from Lockport, Manitoba.

MacDonald is looking to become the first Manitoban to win the race since 1990. He has been training with his dad all year to top the podium in Beasejour.

“To win it in my hometown with all my fans here and my family’s here, it would just be great,” said MacDonald.

Each year, more than 5,000 spectators from across Canada come to watch the best snowmobile talent battle it out at speeds close to 170km/hr.
