PETA members bare all on cold Saskatoon day

Watch above: PETA members bare all on a cold Saskatoon day to encourage people not to wear or use leather products.

SASKATOON – While many were wearing extra layers on Thursday to brave a cold Saskatoon day, two members of PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – bared it all. Their beef?

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“We’d rather go naked than wear leather,” proclaimed their banner.

Wearing vegan cowboy boots and covered only by their banner, two women representing the organization were encouraging shoppers to not wear leather products such as shoes.

“It’s freezing but it’s nothing compared to having your skin peeled off while you’re still conscious,” said Emily Lavendar.

“We want people to know there’s so many great options, fashionable options, out there. You don’t have to buy real leather anymore and this will really help bring an end to the cruel leather industry.”
