Alleged dine and dash couple hit while crossing Regent, police say

WINNIPEG – Police were on their way to Regent Avenue West to deal with a dine and dash before they received a call that two pedestrians had been hit – allegedly the same people.

Winnipeg police got a call at about 12:15 a.m. Friday about a man and woman who had refused to pay their bill at a restaurant in the 1500 block of Regent, near Kildonan Place.

The couple, who were intoxicated, left the restaurant and headed across Regent near Stapon Road, police said in a news release. They successfully crossed the eastbound lanes but were hit in the westbound curb lane when they had almost made it across, police said.
