HALIFAX- Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in several credit card frauds.
The Financial Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is investigating after the Halifax Regional Police have received six reports of stolen/lost credit cards that investigators believe to be related since December 13, 2014.
Police say that in each case, the victim was unsure how and where the loss or theft occurred. The stolen credit cards were used to purchase a number of items, including alcohol and prepaid gift cards, and most of the purchases were made in the Quinpool Road area.
Investigators released five pictures of the suspect who used the stolen cards. He is described as a black man in his 40’s, 5’7″ and 165 lbs. In most of the pictures, he was wearing a dark toque and a dark winter jacket.
If you have any information about the suspect police ask that you call them at 902-490-5016. Investigators say that if they believe someone is using a stolen credit card they should call 902-490-5020 immediately.
