WATCH: A Nanaimo man says he was jolted out of his sleep to find an intruder inside his home, standing at the foot of his bed. Catherine Urquhart reports.
Police in Nanaimo are looking for a man who robbed a home in the middle of the night and managed to escape after a man inside woke up while the suspect was next to his bed.
On February 18 around 11:30 p.m., Thari Al Muhanna was sleeping in his bedroom in the 600 block of Regal Street when his light suddenly turned on. He awoke to find a robber, who quickly ran away.
Thari and his brother gave chase, but were unable to apprehend the person before he took sped away.
“He was a white male, in the mid20s, about 5-foot-6, very thin, and he had a dark hoodie on,” says Cst. Gary O’Brien with Nanaimo RCMP.
A laptop was stolen, along with an engine for a remote control car.
