South Okanagan parents hear from school district about threat

PENTICTON — Concerned parents looking for answers after a threat forced multiple schools into partial lock down will have a chance to hear from the school district this weekend.

Four Penticton schools were partially locked down Wednesday and Thursday in response to the threatening letter. Patrol cars were stationed at Skaha Lake Middle School, Princess Margaret Secondary School, Penticton Secondary School and Okanagan Falls Elementary School.

Community meetings are being held this Sunday in response.

“We will be hosting a community meeting with representatives from RCMP and the school district to ensure we are sharing with you the information we have available and to ensure each of you are supported in the community,” according to a news release issued by Okanagan-Skaha School District 67 Friday.

The meeting will be held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre – Salon C at 7 p.m.

Another meeting is being held by the Okanagan Similkameen School District 53, underway at 4 p.m. at the Okanagan Falls Legion on Veterans Way.

RCMP say they are taking the investigation day by day. With Friday a professional day in the district, no officers were stationed at the schools.
