One airlifted to hospital after serious crash north of Vernon

UPDATE: Highway 97 has reopened in both directions according to DriveBC.

NEAR VERNON — Police and emergency crews are on scene of a serious accident at the junction of Highway 97 and Old Kamloops Road north of Vernon.

“A semi and two vehicles are involved,” says Vernon RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk, “one person has been airlifted to hospital.”

Molendyk doesn’t have any further details on injuries or how the crash happened, but says the highway will be closed for several hours.
