Driver freed from crumpled car after northeast crash

CALGARY – One person was badly injured in a serious crash in the city’s northeast on Thursday evening.

Police say the victim lost control of their vehicle as they traveled on 36th Street N.E., crashing into a light standard near McKnight Boulevard N.E.

The victim was trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle.

There were fears the light standard could come crashing down into the intersection, but Enmax crews were able to clear the scene after an hour.
