WINNIPEG — The sights and sounds of New Year’s celebrations returned to Winnipeg Thursday evening.

500 people gathered at the  Kum Koon Garden Restaurant on King Street for the annual Chinese New Year Banquet.

Thursday night marks the start of the New Calendar, and the year of the goat.

Festivities included a traditional lion dance to kick off the night, followed by Canada Post unveiling the 2015 Year of the Goat stamp and Downtown Winnipeg BIZ showing off their 2015 Chinatown banner.

Also included a Chinese feast and a local China Town band.
