Canucks come from behind to defeat Rangers in shootout

Vancouver is on a streak of ending other teams’ streaks.

A game after ending Minnesota’s 10-game streak of getting at least one point, the Canucks ended the New York Rangers’ four-game winning streak with a 5-4 overtime victory.

Alex Burrows scored the game-winning goal in the shootout for Vancouver, who have now won four of their last five games.

New York had the lead three times during the game, including for much of the third period after goals by Martin St. Louis and Carl Hagelin 21 seconds apart gave them a 4-3 lead.

But the Canucks were able to send it to overtime, after Henrik Sedin scored his second of the game with two minutes left.

Bo Horvat and Shawn Matthias also scored for the Canucks, while Ryan Miller made 30 saves.

Vancouver is now 33-21-3 on the year, second in the Pacific Division. The Rangers are now 34-16-6, second in the Metropolitan Division.
