REGINA – The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Thursday they have signed defensive lineman John Chick to a contract extension through the 2016 season.

Chick will be entering his sixth season with the Riders after signing with the team in 2007. Last season Chick started in all 18 games and led the CFL with 15 quarterback sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

Last year Chick was the Riders nominee for Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

The 32-year-old has played in 73 career games with the Riders and his 42 quarterback sacks place him 5th on the Riders all-time list.

Chick has won two Grey Cup championships with the team in 2007 and 2013.
