A dog had to be rescued by firefighters after falling down a 50 foot crevice of a cliff in Santa Monica on Monday.
NBC reports that Smoky, an 80-pound mutt, and his owner were at a park when the dog spotted a squirrel and chased after it into nearby bushes before falling into the crevice at the edge of the Pacific Coast Highway.
Video of the dramatic rescue shows two Santa Monica firefighters atop a ladder attempting to coax a frightened Smoky from inside the crevice.
The firefighters were eventually able to remove the dog and return him safely to his owner on the ground.
