Around 12:35 p.m. in the area of Acadia Dr. and Canyon Meadows Dr., a Checkers cab became a stolen vehicle. Police said someone had called the cab for the suspect, not realizing “what was going on.” The suspect then took the cab on a high-speed drive, as police scrambled to catch up.

“It wasn’t so much a chase,” said  Calgary Police Detective Steve Adair. “We didn’t have any vehicles actually following him but his driving pattern was certainly cause for concern…criminal dangerous driving and then at the end we were able to get a unit in an attempt to pin him, but he had already bailed out of his vehicle and a foot chase ensued.”
