TORONTO – Get out those parkas and layer up accordingly if you’re heading outdoors.
The Greater Toronto Area and parts of Southern Ontario are currently in a deep freeze as temperatures hover below the -30 degrees Celsius mark with the wind chill Friday morning.
Environment Canada issued an extreme cold warning on Thursday but it was cancelled at 10 a.m. Friday with the temperature set to rise overnight to a low of -6.
Meanwhile, the city’s Extreme Cold Weather Alert remains in effect.

Friday’s high will be -10 with about 2 to 4 centimetres of snow expected to fall this evening.
Environment Canada is reminding people going outdoors to wear appropriate clothing and to be on the look out for those who are most vulnerable, including the homeless.
The cold weather is expected to last throughout the weekend with a high of -12 on Saturday and dropping to a low of -22 on Sunday.
