Preliminary hearing in Harley Lawrence murder case adjourned until Feb. 23

KENTVILLE, N.S. – A preliminary hearing for two men charged in the death of a homeless man in Nova Scotia has been adjourned until Feb. 23.

Daniel Wayne Surette and Kyle David James Fredericks are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Harley Lawrence.

The 62-year-old man was found in a burned out bus shelter in October 2013 in Berwick, a small town in the Annapolis Valley about 120 kilometres northwest of Halifax.

Police have released few details about the case, including how Lawrence died.

A publication ban is in effect on the evidence at the preliminary hearing in Kentville provincial court.
