Two in custody after man shot in the face in East York: police

TORONTO – Toronto police say they have two people in custody after a man was shot in East York Thursday morning.

The incident happened just before 9 a.m. on Dawes Road near Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East.

Police say the victim in his 20s was shot in the face and managed to flag down a vehicle for help.

The man was taken to hospital but is refusing to talk to police.

George Webster Elementary School and Dawes Centre for Early Learning are in hold and secure due to the police investigation.

The canine unit has also been called in to assist police.

Police have since closed Dawes Road, Gower Street and Meighen Avenue.
