WATCH: Michigan school has 4 sets of twins in same grade

Davis Elementary in Decatur, Michigan is seeing double…times four.

The school has 70 kindergartners, eight of which are four sets of twins. Three of the pairs were born in January.

Superintendent Patrick Creagan says this unique situation is a first for him in his nearly 30-year career.

“I think there’s probably a better chance of winning the lottery this weekend,” Creagan told WWMT. “I don’t think it’s anything to do with our water.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The entire school district only has 820 students, making it seem even less likely for the cluster of twins in one grade.

According to a recent report, the probability of having twins in the U.S. is one in every 30 births.

Each pair of twins at Davis Elementary is fraternal, but some do look alike. Teachers depend on details such as colour-coded clothing and accessories to distinguish the students.

Soon, Aiden and Parker, Nathan and Michael, Brenna and Brooklyn, and Blake and Brock will be welcoming a fifth pair of twins into the fold.

Creagan says another set of twins is expected to start kindergarten at Davis Elementary in the spring, making one-seventh of the school’s kindergarten population twins.
