SYDNEY, N.S. – Cape Breton police say a person is dead after a vehicle-pedestrian collision involving a school bus.
A police spokeswoman said she could not confirm that the school bus hit the pedestrian,
But Desiree Vassallo says the collision happened Wednesday around 2:20 p.m. at Sydney Academy in Sydney, N.S.
A release from the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board confirms the fatality involves one of their students and one of their buses.
It also says students were rerouted through the school and dismissed.
Classes at Sydney Academy will be cancelled tomorrow, but the school will be open to allow student to access crisis teams.
Forensic identification and traffic safety units with the Cape Breton Regional Police are investigating.
