WATCH: Company behind Lumby medical marijuana project goes public

LUMBY – A company hoping to produce medical marijuana in Lumby has gone public. True Leaf Medicine International’s shares are now trading on the Canadian Securities Exchange. The company has applied to Health Canada to become a licensed producer of medical marijuana, but still has a number of steps to go through to complete the process and nothing is guaranteed.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I think we are getting close and I hope we are going to be a company that Health Canada wants to work with and partner with,” says CEO Darcy Bomford.

Lumby’s mayor believes the medicinal marijuana project would be good for the municipality’s bottom line.

“It is good news in the sense that I’m sure it will provide some jobs,” says Kevin Acton, “and any business into our industrial park always creates a boost in the tax base.”
