Teen shot and killed in Terrace; 16-year-old released from custody

VANCOUVER – The Terrace RCMP is still trying to figure out what led to the fatal shooting of a teenage boy. Late Monday night a 15-year-old was found inside a home on Molitor Street with a gunshot wound.

He was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries.

A 16-year-old boy who was in the house at the time, was arrested, but has since been released. He is now in the custody of his parents and must abide by numerous conditions. Charges of criminal negligence causing death and manslaughter are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Police say it is still unclear what led to the shooting. The victim and suspect are believed to have known each other, so officials say they believe the public is not at risk.

This investigation is in its early stages and police are working in partnership with the BC Coroner Service and Police Victim Services.
