Police release re-enactment video in Richmond Hill sex assault case

TORONTO – York Regional Police have released a re-enactment video with hopes of catching a suspect linked to two separate sexual assault in Mississauga and Richmond Hill.

Police say the first incident happened on Sept. 27, 2013 at around midnight when a female victim left a transit bus in the area of South Service Road and Crestview Avenue in Mississauga.

It is alleged the suspect grabbed the victim, pulled out a knife and took her to a dark area where she was sexually assaulted.

The second incident took place on Nov. 13, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m. as a woman exited a bus at Yonge Street and Bernard Avenue in Richmond Hill.

The victim was allegedly walking along Canyon Hill Avenue when she was approached by a man who held a knife to her neck, dragged her into a wooded area and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described a male, five-feet 10-inches to six-inches tall, muscular build, light to medium skin tone, and wore a covering over his face.

He also sustained a bite injury to the right hand as a result of the latest assault.

Investigators believe both cases are linked and are asking anyone with similar encounters to come forward.

Police are also seeking the public’s help identifying a person of interest who may have been in the area of the Richmond Hill assault.

A surveillance video of the individual was released by police in December 2014.
